Big Rock Community Farms Market has several part time opportunities available at our recently expanded Stanfordville, NY shop. We’re looking for fun, enthusiastic, hard-working peeps to join our crew. The following positions are available:
Cashier & Clerk part time. You should be a savvy multitasker, a foodie who can speak confidently about our products, and give enthusiastic recommendations to customers. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Interacting with customers, ringing up customers with a calculator, doing basic addition and subtraction, counting change, bagging groceries and merchandise, stocking merchandise, keeping store clean, keeping merchandise organized and orderly, opening and closing store, making coffee. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Stock person, part time. You should be a problem solver with an eye for elegant display with the stamina for a physically demanding job. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Heavy lifting (must be able to lift up to 50 lb. multiple times a day), keeping shelves and bins stocked with merchandise, unloading and transporting merchandise, keeping store clean and making sure merchandise is organized and orderly throughout the day, using a large spreadsheet to look up per pound pricing and pricing items with an old fashioned price gun, sorting through produce to ensure that the freshest items are on display, working together with cashiers and clerks to make sure that the store is always fully stocked and looking its best.
Cook, part time. You should feel confident making seasonal prepared foods using our farm’s fresh produce with limited access to non-local ingredients to be enjoyed in our cafe or taken to go. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Creating and curating a menu of prepared foods, sandwich and salad prep, baking (we’re open to menu/food ideas), gathering and transporting ingredients, heavy lifting (must be able to lift up to 50 lb.), packing food items to be sold in our shop. Cooking (for now) will be done in the kitchen at The Grange which is directly next door to us, so you will have to transport ingredients and finished items back and forth.
